Mounting of a date plate performed on the OCTO+

Initial premise

The OCTO+ was tasked with the following: mounting a date plate with 4 jewels and 2 screw feet, fed from bulk, with an annual production of 150,000 plates.

The vertical precision of the jewel setting is +/- 5 µ, and the maximum cycle time must not exceed 52 seconds, including pallet unloading.

The most important point

The most critical aspect of this project was reliability. The customer wanted to use one of the very popular functionalities of the OCTO+ –"ghost mode." This mode allows the machine to be loaded with components in the evening and left to work independently throughout the night.

To ensure nighttime production, 6 Microfeed distributors were implemented: 4 for the stones and 2 for the screw feet.

The operational process

The first step is placing the date plate from the entry pallet onto the rotating press setup. Then, the manipulator arm picks up each component using suction, with a tool change when necessary. Iterative setting for the jewels and end-stop setting for the screw feet is performed via the pickup head, using a 1 kN press.

Finally, defective parts are unloaded in bulk, and good parts are unloaded into pallets with the same manipulator arm equipped with a different vacuum head.

The cycle time for mounting the date plate is 49 seconds, including pallet unloading.

Why choose the OCTO+ for your mounting needs?

For its reliability

"Ghost mode" allows unsupervised continuous production.

For its precision

Iterative jewel setting with a precision of +/- 5 µ.

For its efficiency

A cycle time of 49 seconds, including pallet unloading.

For its adaptability

Equipped with Microfeed distributors and a 1 kN press for different components.
