Assembly of a winding mechanism using AXOL+

Initial premise

The AXOL+ had to meet a specific demand: the riveting assembly of a winding mechanism consisting of 4 components (1 pinion, 1 wheel, and 2 identical flanges) with a flatness of 23 µ and a runout of 26 µ. All the parts had to be fed from bulk, and the complete assembly cycle time could not exceed 20 seconds, including pallet unloading.

The most critical point

The wheel has wolf teeth, which require a 100% correct top/bottom orientation. This condition is essential for the proper functioning of the winding mechanism.

Why choose the AXOL+ for your assembly needs?

For its precision

Precise recognition and orientation of components thanks to integrated cameras.

For its efficiency

Fast and reliable assembly process, ensuring maximum productivity.

For its flexibility

Ability to handle various components and assembly configurations.

Proposed solution

The 4 components are fed from bulk using 3 flexible feeding systems equipped with integrated cameras. These cameras identify the position of the components on the pickup surface and analyze the orientation of the wolf teeth.

To guarantee the correct orientation of the wheel teeth, the pickup head presents the wheel to a precise camera. The components are then placed in the press setup in the following order: pinion, first flange, oriented wheel, second flange.

The presence of each component under the press is controlled by vacuum or vision.

The press then performs the riveting with a force of 830 N, ensuring precise assembly of the sub-assembly. The final operation is to unload the assembled product into an alveolate pallet. Once filled with compliant parts, the pallet is handled by the palletizer.

The cycle time for assembling the winding mechanism is 14 seconds, including pallet unloading.

The AXOL+ is the ideal solution for your assembly applications, offering unmatched performance and superior assembly quality.
